DESCRIPTION AND USES

Rust-Oleum® Turbo Spray System™ delivers the trusted protection of Stops Rust 4x faster than traditional aerosol cans. Up to 10" wide fan spray covers the surface in fewer passes for faster project completion. The Turbo Spray System lets you achieve professional results without using spray equipment or solvents for cleanup. Projects this big require a lot of paint, so the Turbo Spray System offers an extra tall can filled with 24 ounces of Stops Rust Protective Enamel. Rust-Oleum Stops Rust® Enamel Sprays are designed to provide a durable protective coating with excellent rust prevention, and excellent resistance to abrasion, fading, chipping, and dulling. These sprays apply easily, provide excellent coverage and dry fast to a tough, attractive finish. Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Enamel Sprays are ideal for ferrous, non-ferrous metal and wood surfaces. It features a comfort tip with a wider finger pad to reduce fatigue caused by continuous spraying, and can be used with the Comfort Spray Grip for easier completion of larger projects. Not for use on galvanized metal.


PRODUCT APPLICATION

Use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area such as an open garage. Use when temperature is between 50-90 °F (10-32 °C) and humidity is below 65% to ensure proper drying. Do not apply to surfaces that, when heated, exceed 200 °F (93 °C) or galvanized metal. Avoid spraying in very windy, dusty conditions. Cover surrounding area to protect from spray mist.

 

SURFACE PREPARATION

Remove all dirt, grease, oil, salt and chemical contaminants by washing the surface with a commercial detergent, or other suitable cleaning method. Rinse with fresh water and allow to thoroughly dry. Remove loose paint and rust with a wire brush or sandpaper. Previously coated surfaces must be sound and in good condition. Smooth, hard, or glossy finishes should be scarified by sanding to create a surface profile.

WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint from any surface, you may release lead paint dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE; ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH approved respirator to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. PRIMING

Use of a Stops Rust Primer provides added corrosion protection, superior adhesion and hiding and is especially recommended for bare wood and metal.

 

APPLICATION

Shake the can vigorously for one minute after mixing ball begins to rattle. If mixing ball fails to rattle, DO NOT STRIKE CAN. Contact Rust-Oleum. Shake often during use. Hold can upright 10-16" from surface and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can the same distance from the surface. Keep the can in motion while spraying. It is recommended to apply a light first coat, target 50% coverage. Apply 2 or more light coats a few minutes apart.

 

DRY AND RECOAT TIMES

Based on 70 °F (21 °C) 50% relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures.

Primer:Dries to touch in 15-30 minutes, to handle in 1-2 hours and fully dry in 48 hours. Primer may be top coated immediately.

Enamel:Dries tack-free in 2-4 hours, to handle in 5-9 hours, and is fully dry in 24 hours. Apply a second coat or clear coat within 1 hour or after 48 hours.

Metallic:Dries to touch in 10 minutes and fully dry in 30 minutes and fully dry in 24 hours. Apply a second coat or clear coat within 1 hour or after 48 hours.

Clear:Dries to touch in 15 minutes, to handle in 30 minutes and fully dry in 24 hours. Recoat anytime 2-3 light coats a few minutes apart. Do not apply clear over Stops Rust® Bright Coat Finish or Aluminum Finish.

 

CLEAN UP

Wipe off tip before storing. Clean up wet paint with Xylene or mineral spirits. Throw away empty can in trash pickup. Do not burn or place in home trash compactor.

 

CLOGGING

To clear the spray for future use, turn the can upside down and spray until clear gas is emitted. If the valve clogs, twist and pull off the spray tip and rinse it in a solvent such as mineral spirits. Do not stick a pin or other objects into the stem.
