DESCRIPTION AND USES
Rust-Oleum® Stops Rust® Advanced Clear Protective Enamel is the ultimate standard in rust protection and durability while providing an ultra glossy or matte finish. Stops Rust Advanced Clear Enamels provide 30% greater protection when compared to original matching Stops Rust Clear Enamels based on ASTM tests for adhesion over steel (ASTM D3359), Mandrel Bend/flexibility (ASTM D522) and impact resistance (ASTM D2794). Stops Rust Advanced Clear Enamels provide 30% greater color retention when compared to original matching Stops Rust Clear Enamels (ASTM D2244). The high output tip sprays up to 50% faster versus our standard tip.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Remove all dirt, grease, oil, salt and chemical contaminants by washing the surface with a commercial detergent, or other suitable cleaning method. Rinse with fresh water and allow to thoroughly dry. Remove loose paint and rust with a wire brush or sandpaper. Lightly sand glossy surfaces. Clean with soap and water, rinse and let dry.
WARNING!If you scrape, sand or remove old paint from any surface, you may release lead paint dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE; ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH approved respirator to control lead exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. APPLICATION
Use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area such as an open garage. Use when temperature is between 50-90 °F (10-32 °C) and humidity is below 65% to ensure proper drying. Do not apply to surfaces that, when heated, exceed 200 °F (93 °C) or galvanized metal. Avoid spraying in very windy, dusty conditions. Cover surrounding area to protect from spray mist. Shake the can vigorously for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. If mixing ball fails to rattle, DO NOT STRIKE CAN. Contact Rust-Oleum. Shake often during use. Hold can upright 10-16" from surface and spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can the same distance from the surface. Keep the can in motion while spraying. Apply 2 or more light coats a few minutes apart.
DRY AND RECOAT TIMES
Based on 70 °F (21 °C) 50% relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. Dries to touch in 15 minutes, to handle in 30 minutes. May recoat anytime. Do not apply clear over Stops Rust® Bright Coat Finish or Aluminum Finish.
CLEAN UP
Wipe off tip before storing. Clean up wet paint with Xylene or mineral spirits. Throw away empty can in trash pickup. Do not burn or place in home trash compactor.
CLOGGING
If the valve clogs, twist and pull off the spray tip and rinse it in a solvent such as mineral spirits. Do not stick a pin or other objects into the stem.
